#AnimeTrivia on IRC.Rizon.net - Rules and Information
I. Channel Rules
#AnimeTrivia is a trivia/chat channel. Users are here to have some fun games of trivia and chat with each other. Be respectful of other users in chat. Do not talk politics, religion, or sex. Keep chat light and fun. Do not flood, spam, advertise, repeat, or use vulgar profanities in chat. Abusive users will be kicked/banned from chat channel.
II. Channel Script
We have a very simple channel script for the channel which you can load with mIRC. It is of course optional but helps by utilizing pop-ups so you do not need to remember all trivia bot commands. It can be found on the website @ www.animetrivia.org or you may type “.ATScript” in channel for the URL and to see the current version number for the script.
III. Trivia Bot Triggers
Not all trivia bot commands are available to all users. For a list of bot triggers, type “.help” into the chat channel.
IV. Starting Trivia
Trivia can be started by typing “.trivia” into the channel chat. You may specify a number of rounds by typing “.trivia (#)” into chat. ie. “.trivia 25”. If no trivia participants are active, trivia will automatically be stopped after 10 rounds. If you want to play for a good while, you may start trivia with “.trivia unlimited”.
V. Answering Trivia Questions
To answer a trivia question, simply give that answer in chat. The answer must be given by itself and cannot be within any type of sentence. If the answer you give is correct for that question, you will be awarded points. Be advised that you are limited to three tries on each question. Any line typed into channel chat after a question is asked, whether is pertains to the questions asked or not, will be counted as an attempt at answering.
VI. Scoring
Standard game, a correct answer awards 10 points with 3 points being removed after every hint given. Some questions are Bonus questions, which will award 20 points on successfully answering with a 6 point deduction on every hint. Multiple answer questions award standard scoring and will score with each correct answer given. Answers must be given on separate chat lines. True or False questions award 5 points with a 2 point deduction on awarded points with every hint. A Pro round my be started with using “.trivia pro”. These use the same questions as normal trivia but award 20 points and do not give any hints. The Pro rounds also play at a faster pace. There are no scores given when playing “.trivia additions” since these questions are all user submitted and have not yet been reviewed or verified.
VII. Answers
Questions which start with “TOTAL” means that more than one answer is required to complete the question. You will be scored on each correct answer. The question will not move on until all answers are given. This is the only question type requiring multiple answers as all other questions complete after one correct answer. The hints given will show parts of the questions answer. Two hints are given for every question in normal games, unless an answer is given prior to a hint. Every time a hint is given, points are deducted from the total points which would have been awarded. In order to be awarded full points, asnwer prior to any hints. The answer may be in varying configurations, so if you think you know an answer, even if it does not look like the hint, say what you think and give it a try. We try to add answers in ways how we feel people may give that answer. The bot only shows the format for the first answer, but there may be more ways of answering which will be accepted.
VIII. Adding Questions
We prefer all additions to be submitted using the channels ATScript. This maintains a uniformed question format which we receive and allows for the “.trivia additions” rounds to be played in proper format with user supplied questions prior to us adding them to the main list… however, they can be added manually as well. Below is the question and answer format:
(Category – Series/Movie) - (Question)*(Answer)*(Additional Answer If Any)*(Another Answer)*(Any other information to help us out)
Using the trivia bot command “.add (followed by the above format)” allows the addition of questions with answers. An example below is how this would look being typed into chat:
.add Series - Kimagure Orange Road - How many times prior to the first episode had the Kasugas moved?*Seven Times*Seven*7 Times*7
In this example above, the main answer (what hints are shown for) is “Seven Times,” however, the answers of Seven, 7 Times, and 7 will also be accepted answers. Again, the ATScript was designed solely for the reason of simplifying these additions and it does make it much easier with a GUI.
Questions being added should all be based around Anime, Manga, and the Japanese culture. Categories submitted which currently do not exist, we will create. The current question categories which we have on the primary list are as follows:
Facts – Folklore – Games – Manga – Misc - Movie – Quotes – Scramble – Series – Terms – True or False – Which am I? - Who am I?
If you need to supply notes with your question, please add an additional “*” after your last answer and type any information you would like to submit with your question. Depending on how you added your question/answer(s), they may be edited/revised prior to being added to the main trivia list.
IX. Reporting Issues
Any major problems with the trivia bot, please send Nixx a private message. Problems with other users, private message any channel Operator (%,@,&,~). Do not message &Baka, as this is an automated channel bot and will never respond. Issues with trivia questions/answers, please use the trivia bot’s report function. In channel, use “.report (specific details about issue).”
X. Additional Help
If you require any additional help, feel free to ask in the chat. We are a small channel and users may be inactive some times and you may not receive a response immediately. You are allowed to freely play with bot triggers from “.help” and find how they work by using them in the chat channel.
